We actively support the WDC (Whale and Dolphin Conservation) by creating awareness of their #NotWhaleFood campaign.
Such a great organisation, and some wonderful folks doing amazing work. We will also be stepping up our support for bee conservation in the coming months. We love the 'Barefoot Beekeeper' and his quest to raise awareness of 'natural beekeeping'. It's critical that we raise awareness of the terrible state of our bees. If we run out of bees, we are all in trouble. Mega trouble. And that's why we won't be making a vegan wrap. I believe that the higher the demand for beeswax, the better for the bees. We need to keep bees and their welfare top-of-mind. |
On a product level, we use the highest quality natural materials
Our cotton cloth is GOTS-certified which this ensures that the people who make the cloth are looked after, and that there is minimal chemical processing.
We use only natural, un-patterned cloth for the same reason. Patterns require ink, labour and chemicals . Our packaging for our online sales is minimalist (one envelope product and address), recycled and unprinted, except for a stamp that uses eco-friendly ink. For larger orders, we use biodegradable packaging, rather than degradable or recyclable. |
This is the most eco-friendly packaging currently as degradable plastic is often still petroleum-based.
Or takes much longer to break down. Recyclable is also a tricky one as recycling plants are not able to recycle all plastics. It all depends on the technology available in your area so there are recyclable plastics that end up in landfill. For example, black plastic is recyclable, but not currently recycled in the UK, ending up in landfill (so don't buy ready-made food in black plastic containers!) |
Who knew that breaking an addiction could be so rewarding and fun ? :) |
