The best-dressed sandwiches are wearing the latest in food couture - Buzzcloth - a delicious smelling biodegradable food wrap, made in the UK from beeswax and cotton cloth.
Buzzcloth is a reusable, all-natural alternative to plastic, which seals around food with the help of the warmth of your hands, keeping it fresher and intact. Perfect for cheese, sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, bread, snacks and more. It also seals around bowls which is handy for storing leftovers, rising dough and salad.
Buzzcloth can be used over and over again from anything up to two years. Rinse, or wash it in cold water with mild soap, let it dry and reuse. At the end of its life, throw it on the compost. Created by mum-of-four, Yolanda Drewell, who was horrified at her own reliance on cling film for school lunches. She decided to find a better solution.
“I came across a Canadian version but it didn’t feel right to import it, so I decided to work out my own recipes for a UK version.
"I’m delighted to say that people who buy it never look back, and the category of beeswax food wraps is growing with small producers popping up all over the world. This is great news, not only because it helps reduce plastic usage, but also because it supports small business enterprise."
Yolanda feels so passionately about inspiring new habits that she has removed the logo from her Buzzcloth beeswax wraps.
“Nasty plastic is one of the greatest problems facing the human race right now, and if we don’t all work together to break our ‘habit’ of using it inappropriately - that is, as a single-use item - how will we look our children in the eye when we hand them a barren hellhole of plastic rubbish, previously known as earth, for their custodianship?
"Removing the logo from our products is a strong statement in support of our plea to everybody to use anything except plastic in their kitchen and lunchbox. Use Buzzcloth, make your own beeswax wrap, or buy from someone making them near you - just don’t use nasty plastic. Please?"
Available in small, medium and large, there’s a Buzzcloth for every need.
