Welcome to Buzzcloth,
a fabulous little food companion
that even Mother Nature would
use in her kitchen and lunchbox.
Buzzcloth replaces land-filling, carbon-making sandwich bags, cling film, foil and wax paper.
Made in the UK from all natural organic cotton, beeswax and jojoba oil, Buzzcloth is a reusable, washable, scrunchable beeswax wrap thing that seals around food with a quick hand-hug.
These amazing ingredients work together to keep air out, and moisture in.
How did it start?
Buzzcloth exists because I needed to kick my plastic habit!
I started searching for wipeable, practical substitute for clingfilm for school lunches.
The only reusable options that came up were lined fabric sandwich bags which I found were too fussy, and never the right size for my needs.
After more research, I discovered that a fabulous Canadian nutritionist had invented a beeswax food wrap that was breathable but effective in keeping food fresh.
I couldn't justify the carbon miles to import them into the UK, so I was inspired to play around with my own formulas to create a a similar thing. It worked so well, I decided to sell them in the UK. And like so, Buzzcloth was born, and what a wonderful journey it has been!
In our family, we honestly use Buzzcloth every day for all sorts of things, and each time I wrap a sandwich, I feel great that I've just saved the planet from one more bit of toxic foil or plastic.
The delicious smell, and scrunchiness of it is also wonderful.
Now, there are similar products popping up all over the place so look out plastic, we're gonna give you carrots! (That's South African speak for 'kicking butt!')
So, from an 'ex-user' to all of you fabulous people - you can do it! Stop using your plastic! You don't need it! Buy Buzzcloth. Or buy another brand, or make your own. Just don't use nasty plastic!
I've never met Toni Desrosiers, but yet she's made a huge impact on my life.
Toni founded the original beeswax wrap and despite many obstacles and nay-saying that a ground-breaking product encounters, her fabulous Abeego brand is gaining traction as a mainstream product.
She has single-handedly spawned a whole new eco-industry and inspired many business start-ups by ordinary people who are making and selling beeswax wraps in and around their communities. This is great for local economies and helps in reducing plastic in landfill and worse, in our oceans!
I would like to acknowledge her tenacity, vision and business acumen, and thank her for helping people across the globe to change their food storage habits, and thus making a growing positive impact towards eradicating plastic in our kitchen and lunch-boxes.
Toni is based in Canada and runs her business with the support of her husband and daughter.
